Life changes and challenges can impact on adolescents particularly hard. This often differs from adult processing as adolescents cannot always draw on positive coping strategies from their past.
Furthermore, with a culture that now involves an ever expanding audience from school, family and social media, the growing world of an adolescent can be increasingly hard to manage and process.
I believe early intervention is key to supporting adolescents in learning helpful ways of managing, identifying and processing their thoughts and emotions. This awareness supports and aids emotional intelligence and emotional resilience, which in turn promotes better communication and relationships.
"Adolescence represents an inner emotional upheaval;
a struggle between the eternal human wish to cling onto the past, and the equally powerful wish
to get on with the future."
L.J. Kaplan
