to stay where you are"

The difference between therapies

Counselling: Is a process of exploring what is troubling you in a safe and confidential environment. Utilising the therapist to reflect on your thoughts and feelings and identifying any potential barriers and blockers that may be harming your personal wellbeing.

Psychotherapy: Is in essence the same process as counselling, with a focus on deep ingrained, and perhaps historical, thoughts, beliefs, relationships and behaviours.

Short-term Solution focused therapy: This is therapy focused on a very specific area of concern to you. Goals and objectives will be set and worked through together. Areas where this is often used is when an issue is situational : i.e work related stress, anxiety related to a recent event, a set back in confidence, etc

This form of therapy typically consists of 5-8 sessions.

We can discuss together which approach you feel will be most supportive to your individual needs. This focus may change and shift over the course of our work, and may naturally evolve to include all three approaches.
